EDT Maastricht heeft een nieuw seminar gepland op 22 oktober 2012. Waar: Vestdijk 30, Eindhoven (Aristo zalen, zie routebeschrijving). Professor Allan Abbass was huisarts en seh-arts, en is tegenwoordig een veelgeroemd psychiater en opleider op het gebied van kortdurende psychotherapie. Op de studiedag presenteert hij zijn technieken voor diagnose en behandeling m.b.v. video-vignetten. Dit is geen nieuwste modegril; het is zeer degelijk werk, in de traditie van Malan en Davanloo, met een uitgebreide basis van bijna vijftig jaar empirisch onderzoek. Onze jaarlijkse studiedag gaat ditmaal over goedkoop en duurkoop in diagnostiek (voor artsen en andere diagnostici) en in therapie (voor eerstelijn en tweedelijn ggz). Het idee is dat goede zorg en goede diagnostiek economisch wel degelijk rendabel kunnen zijn. Abbass is hierin een pionier en heeft spectaculaire resultaten bereikt in de praktijk, en deze ook aangetoond met uitgebreide effect-studies en kosten-analyses. Er worden twee workshops voorzien: A: 10.30-16 u: een workshop voor ggz-werkers, met het accent op effectieve therapeutische techniek, onder meer bij somatisatie B: 17.30-20.30 u: een workshop voor artsen en diagnostici, met het accent op effectieve diagnostiek van somatisatie Accreditatiepunten zijn bij het NIP aangevraagd voor gz-psychologen. Accreditatie voor huisartsen is toegekend door het CvAH voor 3 punten.

He is now renowned as a psychiatrist and teacher in the field of brief psychotherapy. At the seminar he will present his techniques for diagnosis and treatment, supported by video vignettes. His work is not a fashion whim; it is thoroughly based upon nearly fifty years of empirical research, in the best tradition of Malan and Davanloo. Our yearly seminar has 'cost and quality' as its theme, especially with reference to diagnosis (for medical doctors and mental health practitioners) and in treatment (for first and second echelon mental health practitioners). The idea is that good care and good diagnosis do yield a substantial payoff, economically. Abbass has been a pioneer in these matters and he has obtained remarkable results in practice, substantiated by extensive outcome studies and cost analyses.
